The use Technology in English Language Learning

 

Language is one of the important elements that influence international communication activities. Students can take advantage of parts of English skills such as listening, speaking, reading, and  writing for their proficiency and communication easily using Technology. Technology provides teaching resources and brings learning experience to the learners’ . Through using technology, many authentic materials can be provided to learners and they can be motivated in learning language, Using technologies in English learning can improve language learning skills, and also how to use technology in English language class and how important is the influence technology in education.

First, technology has an important influence in education, as the developments provided in technology change the aspects of education itself, it is not only easy for teachers and students but all aspects of education are very much affected by technology, example the use of technology to support learning materials such as use of the internet to help students gain access to resources  open educational resources such as electronic books (e-books), podcasts, digital libraries, education, educational videos and instructions, tutorials, and more. Ramey (2013) stated that the effective use of technology in education has changed aspects of education and created more educational opportunities. In conclusion technology has an important influence in education that can change aspects of educational.

Second, there are many benefits of technology to improve English skills, one of which is that students do not only get the material they want to learn only in the learning class, but it is easy for students to find the material they want on the internet such as students' reading skills by searching various sources on the internet that are of interest to students. Pregoy and Boyle (2012) stated that study on using technology in improving learners’ reading and writing skills. The results of this study indicated that technology tools enhanced learners’ reading and writing skills because they are user-friendly, and learners can learn at a faster and more effective way.

And third, using technology in the language classroom will make the learning process more effective and conducive and make students more enthusiastic about learning and more motivated. For  example the teacher supports the delivery of material by using video pictures in delivering conversation material in class that will make students more interested and more effective.  Arifah (2014), stated that the use of internet increases learners’ motivation . The use of film in teaching helps learners to realize the topic with enthusiasm and develop their knowledge. When learners learn with technology, it assists them in developing their higher order thinking skills. It can be concluded that the true combination of multimedia and teaching methodology is very important to attract learners’ attention towards English language learning. The conclusion using technology in English language class is more effective for student and teacher.

In conclusion, the use technology in English language learning is more effective because  technology has an important influence in education,  there are many benefits of technology to improve English skills and using technology in the language classroom will make the learning process more effective and conducive.
